Dusting the banks of the Blanco River, this special property is home to meadows and springs, rolling hills, limestone shelves, ravines, wet weather creeks and fields of wildflowers. Heritage oak trees and native Juniper pepper the landscape. The limestone soils and rocky terrain are filled with boulders that tell the story of ancient seabeds fossilized in time. Our winding road through the estate offer glimpses of the varied landscape as the vineyard, garden, and buildings emerge, all framed by beautiful scenes of the Hill County Landscape.

Carving a path through the meadows surrounding the garden, we have implemented the permaculture philosophy of berms and swales. In the spirit of managing and preserving water, this method captures water and sends it to the root systems. We have planted native trees to increase biodiversity along with fruit trees that we plan on developing into a food forest along a decomposed granite trail the connects the many structures being built on the estate.

Wild and arching oak trees anchor the rolling and varied terrain. The way they dance with the rolling hills and rocky bluffs of the estate offer a feeling of consistency as you make your way through the property.

Honoring the natural topography and utilizing it in service to the ecosystem, our series of Leaky Wiers constructed throughout our wet weather creek slows the water entering the Blanco River and allow it to seep back into the water table to fuel our natural Springs and Grotto. Taking opportunities to regenerate the water table honors the future of the estate.

Charting a new path through the property, our entrance road honors the land and the instinct to listen to the landscape nature has already created. The location of the road was designed and determined by nature and the mature trees that remain along its path. Spending two years walking the cedar thicket and decoding a path that would allow mature Oak Trees to stay intact leaves a winding road that shows glimpses of hidden corners of the estate, vignettes of the Vineyard and builds anticipation for the destination to come.

THE TREES TELL THE STORY OF THE WIND, WATER AND SUNLIGHT THAT MOVE THROUGH THE LAND.
